Manager says...... Solid performance Mangos 1 Boco 7 Print E-mail

Great win for the boys today on a difficult pitch.  Again we played our passing football and scored some very good goals, but we also not for the first time this season out fought the opposition.  All 15 players are making it difficult for myself and Andy as every one of them deserves to be playing in the team, but it is a nice problem to have.  Special mention today for Joe and Ben who I thought both played very well after coming off the bench, and that should give them the confidence to kick on for the rest of the season.  Well done lads, Ashton at home next week and another big game.  Paul

Match report written by Graham Brant

A frosty morning soon thawed to allow the game at Pomphrey Hill to take place. The pitch was again heavy and the boys did well keeping their feet in this game. Boco had an early scare as Mangotsfield made the first break past the defence and saw Jack Madge called into action for an easy save from the centre forward’s shot. The game took a time to settle and a good ten minutes had passed before BOCO started to get to grips with the bumpy surface and maintain possession. Alex Whale showed some great skills in midfield with Luke Withey and Olly West ensuring that the ball always went forward. The opening goal came from a volley by Harry Ollis on the edge of the box that was superbly fed in from the right by Jack Green. This spurred the team on and a flurry of attempts from Harry Ollis, Keaton Lacey and Jack Robson saw the balls just float shy of the goal. A magnificent run by Bradley Wheadon saw the ball land at Jack Robson’s feet and his shot pound off the upright for a quick witted Jack Green to follow through and make it two nil up to BOCO. On the thirty minute mark, Will Brant showed some great  battling skills to fend  off two defenders in the corner of the pitch and manage to float the ball to Jack Robson waiting in the box who unselfishly side passed it to Jack Green for goal number three. Joe Cox replaced the injured Alex Whale and got to work maintaining a solid midfield with Bradley and Tom Patten. Mangotsfield were not going to give up easily and a late break saw them pass the defence with ease and open their account with a right footed shot into the BOCO goal. With little time left of the first half, Jack Robson made a superb lone run past two defenders to coolly place the ball in the left hand corner of the Mangotsfield net to finish the half 4-1

The second half saw BOCO continued to dominate with each player fighting for the ball. Ben Stevenson found himself in space and had a shot on goal only to be foiled by the skill of the Mangotsfield keeper denying him the goal. Callum Ball pushed forward and played a good game in moving the ball from one side to the other creating opportunities for the front men to take on. Jack Green made his hat trick from a Jack Robson flick that went over the defender and put Jack in the perfect scoring position. This was closely followed with Jack Robson seeing his second of the day putting it across the goal bouncing off the post and this time crossing the line. With the score at 6-1  and little time to play Callum moved the ball to Harry who delivered the ball into the box and for Will Brant to ensure the game went completely out of reach of Mangotsfield with a goal.

Final score of Mangotsfield 1 – Boco 7

AYL U14 Match Report - AEK Boco 1 Bitton 0 Print E-mail

Written by Graham Brant.

The fourth clash of the season between two top sides was never going to be easy and a heavy pitch and gusting wind did little to make matters any better. Boco made much of the early play but it seemed to stay on the right side of the pitch and did not seem to get towards the Bitton goal, thanks to the huge Bitton back four. Bradley was first to break ranks and twisted and turned his way into the box only to see his shot go inches wide. This allowed the team to push harder although being slightly slow to the ball saw us give away a couple of early corners. These were eagerly defended and the ball was soon back into the Bitton Half. Despite the team’s best efforts with shots from Harry , Will  and Jack Green the ball did not seem to want to go in the goal. Boco had all the possession and started to create some great passing moves. This led to the ball being placed in the box by Alex Whale for Jack Robson to take on the keeper and see it bounce off the post.

The second half  started well with Boco continuing where they left off. On the 45 minute mark the Bitton goalkeeper took a goal kick into the wind that fell at the feet of Bradley. Brad was quick to take the opportunity to surge forward an used his skill to feed the ball into the box. Jack green saw his chance pulled back his right foot and hit the ball hard and low into the left hand corner to score a very important goal. Bitton then started to put on the pressure and BOCO found themselves defending their own half more often than was comfortable. The team gave away some free kicks in crucial areas but as usual Jack Madge took it all in his stride and made the difficult job of goalkeeping look so easy. Olly West. Keaton Lacey, Tom Norley  and Luke Withey ensured the back four remained strong and ensured the danger of the nippy strikers was dealt with and cleared.  A very evenly matched second half meant BOCO came away with a well deserved 1-0 win in difficult conditions against worthy opponents.

Match Report
Today in the freezing cold and a nasty pitch it was a comfortable win.
Stuart put us in front early on then Kieran made it 2-0 before half time.
In the second half we continued to play good passing football and got our reward with a second from Kieran making it 3-0, then a penalty from Charlie L. made it 4-0.
Great attitude, great teamwork, a pleasure to watch.

Match Report
Apologies for a late report.
Fantastic performance, there is great improvement from every position on the pitch.
After going 1-0 down Stuart replied for us with a smart close range finish. Charlie L. then put us 2-1 up before half time with a spectacular overhead kick. In the second half Abaas made it 3 with a great 25yd. effort. Shortly after with a well worked goal from Kieran it was 4 and Charlie G. made it 5-1 with an emphatic shot.
Previously I had asked for more clinical finishing and the boys certainly did it today.
